WhatsApp and Meta Platform data

When you contact Drug Comparison through WhatsApp, or agree to receive WhatsApp messages from us, we may collect and use:

Your telephone number.
Your WhatsApp profile name.
The pharmacy or organisation connected with your account.
Messages and attachments you send to us.
The date and time of communications.
Message delivery, read and response status.
Your communication preferences.

We may use this information to:

Respond to enquiries.

Confirm or manage your Drug Comparison account.

Send DC MarginGuard summaries and related information.

Our WhatsApp communications are delivered using the WhatsApp Business Platform provided by Meta. Meta and any approved service providers involved in delivering these messages may process relevant information on our behalf. Meta may also process information in accordance with its own terms and privacy policies.

Information may be processed outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards to protect personal information transferred internationally.

We do not sell personal information obtained through WhatsApp.

We keep WhatsApp information only for as long as it is needed to provide our services, manage our relationship with you and meet any legal, accounting or regulatory requirements. It is then securely deleted or anonymised in line with our retention procedures.

You can ask us to stop sending non-essential WhatsApp messages at any time by using the opt-out instructions provided in the message or by contacting support@drugcomparison.co.uk.

Stopping WhatsApp messages will not prevent us from contacting you through another appropriate method where this is necessary to provide your service or meet a legal obligation.

Please do not send patient-identifiable information, prescription information or other sensitive personal data through WhatsApp unless Drug Comparison has specifically asked you to use an approved secure process.

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete personal information connected with your Drug Comparison account or WhatsApp communications.

To make a request, email support@drugcomparison.co.uk with the subject line “Data deletion request”.

Please include:

Your full name.
Your pharmacy or organisation name.
The telephone number used to contact us on WhatsApp.
A brief description of the information you want us to delete.

We may ask you for further information to confirm your identity and protect your personal information.

We will respond to your request without undue delay and normally within one month. We will confirm when the request has been completed or explain if we cannot delete certain information.

We may retain information where this is required by law, needed to resolve a dispute or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
